The Little River Bridge project consisted of a bridge with rock face rails and piers over the Little River in the Little River Canyon National Preserve. The bridge was designed by Alabama DOT engineers and completed by Highways, Inc. (photo gallery)

To simulate native stones in the area, Alabama DOT chose Custom Rock Formliner pattern #1203 New England Drystack, which is made up of stones ranging from 3” to 24”, stacked without mortar. The concrete stain colors applied complimented the stone texture and allowed the pattern to appear like natural stone.

Custom Rock Formliner assisted Alabama DOT engineers with writing specifications for the project, manufactured the multiple-use elastomeric drystack formliners and completed the staining and coloration of the piers and rails to the designer’s specifications.
